Martin Solano Jr. (left) & T.J. Deam
Martin Humberto Solano Jr. (pictured left) was a faithful disciple
in the teen ministry of the South Florida Church of Christ.Martin was diagnosed with a brain tumor
two years ago, and passed away on December 11, 2009 at the age of 13, but he
didn't leave us without making a major impact in tons of our lives.
It is often when people go through hard situations
that their true self emerges, and this has certainly been true with Martin.
Shortly after his diagnosis, Martin underwent emergency surgery that left him
with significant paralysis and immobility as well as facing extensive
treatments and ongoing tests.But
his illness was never what defined him.His example can encourage and challenge each of us.

Sometimes
becoming a disciple entails real sacrifice, even at a young age…
Annie
visited her aunt in New Delhi last year during her summer vacation. Her aunt
Sheila has been a disciple for a few years. She is the principal of one of the HOPE schools.Annie attended church with her aunt. She loved the fellowship, she loved the
sermons… Annie started studying the Bible but she had to go back to her native
place which is in another state of India where we don’t have a church.Annie was only fifteen at the time.
There is much good news to report from the Tampa Bay Church's
Teen Ministry this year! The teen disciples have grown to a total of eight. Three teens graduated this year leaving two disciples in the teen ministry, one of which was baptized earlier this year. Since July there have been five
baptisms plus a disciple that moved here from South Florida. There are also multiple studies going on now so that number
is sure to grow.
My name is Kyria
and I was born in Paris, France 16 years ago. My dad is Italian
and my mum is American. We now live in Milan, Italy, where my parents moved
when I was about 6 months old to help the church here.
I was baptized on
October 8th, 2009. By then, I was determined and sure of what I
wanted, but it actually took me over a year to come to my final decision.
